Last night, I did something I've wanted to do for 33 years. I lived out a dream, you know, somthing you always wanted to do before you die. For me, that was Roller Derby.
I was in my first bout last night. My team, the Hot Metal Hellions took on the Bitch Doctors. Going into the bout, we had 8 out of 14 on our team present, three of which were rookies. The others were either sick, injured or out of town. We were able to get three awesome subs from the Slashers.
We played a great game, but those Bitch Doctors are tough. I don't think many were disappointed with the outcome. We all did our best.
The last two weeks were rough for me. I traveled 10 of the 14 days from coast to coast working the beauty show circuit. Needless to say, I was tired, jet lagged and downright cranky. Thursday night, the funk seemed to have lifted and I had a good practice. I went into yesterday's bout feeling good and with no anxiety, which surprised me.
Even though we weren't victorious, I had the time of my life. I am tired and a little sore this morning, however, I though it would be much worse. I woke up, happy to be a Hellion. I am glad they drafted me!
