Life sucks and lawyers too

**Warning....I'm pissed, I have a potty mouth**

Well, life just keeps getting better and better, especially with my mother and her situation. For those that need an update, start at the beginning, then go to the middle and now, here's the end.

The piece of shit attorney has pretty much done nothing since October. I've been emailing him, calling him and leaving voice mails since March. Ignorant fucker will not respond.

Two weeks ago, I left a message stating that I wanted the ORIGINAL letter that I received from Life Flight admitting that they fucked up returned to me, that I was taking my case elsewhere since he didn't have the decency to resond back to me. Surprise.............no answer.

So, I contacted Edgar Snyder. They will not touch the case since there is only 3 months left before the statute of limitations runs out. They referred me to another practice. Same story. Same story three more times.

This fucking piece of shit totally fucked me. I am to the point where I am beginning to believe that he's been paid off.

Yesterday, I left ANOTHER message for him and threatened to contact the Bar Association. Low and behold, he had his secretary call me to tell me that a letter was put in the mail to me. She couldn't tell me what it said. My guess is that he is saying that there is nothing he can do further. Too bad he didn't have the BALLS to call me. Fucking coward had to send a letter then have his secretary call me.

So now, my mother is totally disfigured. Totally disabled. She's 61, living in a nursing home for the rest of her life and absolutely NO ONE is being held accountable for their actions. This is totally fucked up.

I've totally been robbed of 10-20 quality years with my mother. Yes, she is alive, but she is not the same person. By not getting the medication that she needed, she has brain damage. At 41, I shouldn't have to be going through this. I am an only child, and don't get me started on my "sperm donor". He has had very little interest in my life. So it's me, all me.

I could seriously kill someone right now. Good thing I don't own any weapons. I really, truly, understand now, how people can just snap and start shooting people.

Life isn't fair, I get that. I'm just having a hard time dealing right now with how my Mom went from this.......

To this.................................
It has nothing to do with money. Money doesn't matter, the nursing home and insurance company will just take it all anyway. It's a matter of principle and holding people accountable for their actions. Someone should have to look my mother in the eye and say, "I'm sorry."

Update on Mom

August 7, 2006, my 60 year old mother had to be life flighted because of a brain bleed. She is a dialysis patient and she was on Cumadin at the time to help regulate her blood so that she wouldn't clog up the machine. Before leaving on the flight, I was told that they ordered a drug to be administered on the flight to counter act the Cumadin, so that the bleeding would stop. Sometime, during the flight, the IV infiltrated in her arm. No one at the hospital for a week would tell me what was wrong with my mother's arm. 10 days after the flight, I was at her apartment and there was a letter addressed to me, sent to her address from Life Flight. The letter stated that PA law requires them to inform in writing when something adverse happens. They were writing to inform me of the infiltration that occurred during the flight.

My mother recovered from the brain bleed and this horrible injury to her arm. From August until February, she endured three times weekly debrising the wound, they basically, cut and removed all the skin from her arm. Despite the use of splints, the tendons in her fingers shortened. Her hand curves out like if you were using the heel of your hand to push something on the table. She can't straighten her hand or her fingers. So, she pretty much has no use of this arm, which is her right arm, which is her dominant arm. Her other arm, has her port in it for dialysis.

She received a skin graft in February, where they removed skin from her upper thigh and put it on her arm. This was quite painful for her and her arm still looks horrible.

After her skin graft, she left the hospital finally to reside in a nursing home. She had to go there because with this injury, she can't take care of herself. I am an only child and I can't take care of her either.

I contacted a lawyer and met with him in November. During all this time he's been getting the records and such. I have been told that he had an "expert" nurse examine all the records has determined that we will have a tough case. She noted that the drug that was ordered, Dilantin has specific administration instructions, which WERE followed. Ah, I don't think so, if that was the case, every person, who received this drug would have an arm that looks like my mothers.

If you are squeamish, please don't scroll any further, these photos are pretty bad. Keep in mind, the infiltration happened August 7, 2006, the photos were taken November 28, 2006, which is nearly four months (16 weeks later)

I ask you, does this look like the drug was administered as instructed???? Do you think I am crazy to think that someone should be held responsible for her injury? I am having a hard time with this. First, the drug infiltrated. Second, why was she given Dilantin, it's an anti seizure drug. A counteract to Cumadin would be either Potassium, which couldn't be used because she is a renal patient or Vitamin K. So, not only did they not give a drug properly, they MAY have given her the wrong drug.

Update on Mom

Thursday, September 7, Mom was released from Allegheny General Hospital after 31 days to a long-term acute care facility in Monroeville. She had a set back three weeks ago and I hadn't been able to communicate with her since. It was like the lights were on, but no one was home, which is typical with brain injuries. The new facility is really nice. I went to visit her on Saturday. I sat down and started talking to her. I started to tell her about Goldstock and how much fun Riley had. The most amazing thing happened. As soon as I mentioned Riley's name, she got this big smile on her face and was really looking into my eyes. From there, I asked her all types of questions and she answered with head nods and tried to talk. She has a trachea in, so speaking is not that easy. This is such a huge step! I can't wait for her to get stronger so that she can be put into a wheelchair and I can bring Riley for a visit. Dogs are only allowed in the lobby and on the grounds. If mentioning his name gets that reaction out of her, I can't imagine what feeling is golden coat will do. I keep hoping and praying that things get better. It is such a shame for someone that is 59 to be in this condition.

Mom..........round two!

In March 2005, my Mom nearly died from renal failure. She was hospitalized for 23 days and diagnosed with Bright's Syndrome. It is basically, chronic kidney disease. For the past year and a half, she has been getting dialysis three days a week. Well Mom is back in the hospital again. Monday morning, I got a call at 6:30 from the dialysis center saying that Mom never showed up. After calling her and getting no answer, I called the neighbor and he said her car was in the garage, yet she wasn't answering the door or the phone. So we called 911, by the time I got down there, they were already in there. Seems she got dizzy and fell, so they took her to the emergency room. She told the doctor that she had a headache the day before, so they did a CT scan, which showed bleeding on the brain. They life flighted her to Pittsburgh, where they immediately did brain surgery. They made a small incision at the lower back of her skull, removed a portion of bone and the two blood clots, went down into her skull, which is good and they got the bleeding stopped. They said that with her on blood thinners, it can make a small incident into a large on in no time. I don't know if she fell and hit her head (she landed in a big pile of clothing) or if an earlier head wound caused the fall. It's all a mystery. I was at both hospitals all day, Monday and finally got to see her at 9:30 pm. She developed a fever Thursday, it finally broke on Saturday. Also her one arm swelled and the skin turned black and had blisters all over it. It looks like and IV was infiltrated. On Friday, it looked like they had cut and removed all the dead skin from it. It's such a mess.

She is now awake and alert and will answer questions with head nods. She just doesn't seem like she is all there mentally. She moves her good arm erratically, pulls away when I try to touch her and has a very vacant look in her eyes.

I am just trying to take each day at a time!!
