Punking Mr. Bruises

Last week, a client brought Max in to visit. The family brought the puppy home thinking it was a boy only to have the vet tell them, nearly a week later that it's a girl! They had been calling her Max and considered changing her name, but the youngest son was having nothing of it. So, meet Maxine!

She is such a cutie. She just snuggled in to my neck. When I went to give her some treats, the most amazing puppy breath ever came out of her mouth. Puppy breath is the best smell on Earth!

I thought I would get Mr. Bruises going, so I sent him the following photo in a text message and had the following text conversation with him:

Me: Your Christmas present was just delivered.
MB: Is that really ours?
Me: Yep
MB: You're kidding, right?
Me: Nope
MB: Girl?
Me: Yep
***long pause***
Me: She was just visiting, her name is Max, but you are lucky this time!
MB: You got my hopes up, Max is a dumb name for a girl.

I then had to explain the whole boy/girl mix up to him. His response surprised me. I didn't realize he would be open to another dog. I would love to have about three more, however, we would need to find other options for doggy sitting if we added another dog. Three dogs is a lot to ask someone to care for when you are on vacation.

You have to admit, she is a cutie!

Snuggle Buddies

Sunday, I did a little Christmas shopping. While Mr. Bruises was in Best Buy, I went to Pet Smart to shop for the animals. I had some time to kill, so I browsed up and down aisles I usually don't go down. I came to the section that housed the kitties that were up for adoption. OMG, these two were totally snuggling in a bed, sound asleep.

I couldn't resist, I had to take a photo. I know people were looking at me like I had grown a second head, but you know, I am used to that. I just kept snapping away. They never woke up. Look how the black one is totally hugging the gray one.

Pet Smart works with local animal shelters to help find homes for these kitties. I am always amazed at how well they take care of these cats. Their cages and bedding are always clean and they get them out and play with them daily as well. I sure hope these kitties find a new home, until then, they got each other!

Teddy

While we were shopping on Saturday, I came out of the store to wait on the others. I was greeted by a standard poodle named Teddy. My two friends who were waiting outside were all like "We knew you would spot him right away".

I immediately started to approach Teddy and pet him. I then noticed that his human had these sunglasses on and it wasn't sunny at all. I thought that he was blind and I almost asked if Teddy was "working", because you never approach or distract a service dog when they are working. Teddy didn't have a coat on. Service dogs usually have those on. I then looked for a walking stick and realized that this guy wasn't blind, he was just wearing sunglasses. He was sitting with Teddy while his wife shopped.

Teddy, it seems is totally attached at the hip to his human Mom. Aren't all dogs (wink). I got some photos snapped with Teddy as I told his owner about how my grandparents had a standard poodle that was the same coloring as Teddy when I was growing up. You don't see many of them around any more.

Finally Teddy's mom came out of the store and then they did the swap and the man went in to shop. Teddy was so excited to see her, he just kept prancing around and wiggling, it made my heart melt, because this is exactly how my boys are with me. After chatting with her for awhile I told her how I initially thought that her husband was blind. Later in the day, we passed them all again and her husband laughed and pretended he was walking with a walking stick. We all had a good chuckle over it.

It was very nice meeting you yesterday, Teddy. You made me think of Choco and my grandparents a lot!

Holly Visits The Purple Pinkie!

Holly's mom is my last client every other Thursday evening. Holly has started to come with her to her appointment because A: It gives her alone time with her mom without her little brother Crosby and B: I love doggy visitors at The Purple Pinkie.

The appointment time is later and really no one else is in the salon at the time, so it works well. The majority of our clients wouldn't care, but there are a few that don't like animals and I would never subject them to being around such a vicious beast. LOL

Pennsylvania is a great state. You are actually allowed to have pets in the salon, provided that they are kept in a cleanly fashion. A lot of salons have "shop animals" and I think that is awesome. The salon that is behind us has a shop dog, Ziggy, who goes to work every day with his mom.

So, pop in with your furry friend some day! I keep saying I am going to get a treat jar for the salon. Truth is, I would rather you bring your pets to the salon than your kids!

Sylus visits!

We had another doggie visitor at The Purple Pinkie this week. This is Sylus, he is an Italian Mastiff Cane Corso. He is the most beautiful color I have ever seen. He is known as a blue, but his coat is like a pinkish, grayish blue. He is so much more handsome in person and boy is he a LEANER!! He belongs to Kylie's friend Jocelyn and he was on his way home from a vet appointment when he stopped in for a visit.

I got the official full body sniff down when I arrived at home. You can't get anything by those dogs! I hope they don't know that I kissed him!

How Derby Girls Get Clean!

Well, I can't speak for all derby girls, but I can speak for THIS derby girl. When I get home from practice, I stink! My wrists and elbow (and probably my knees) smell like really bad potato salad. Anyhoo, I shower as soon as I get home. Last night, I tried a new indulgence and OMG. Heaven!

You will recall, a couple of weeks ago, Jill and I were in Lawrenceville and we happened upon a wonderful soap store with an awesome display in their window. We didn't stop in that day and I didn't even get the name of the business. We did, however, stop in on Saturday!

When we walked into Jay Design We were immediately greeted by Silvie the cat. Her counterpart, Larry was manning the cash register. I personally feel that all businesses should have a shop animal. I am going to have a tag for all those I encounter kind of like I do the Bathroom Tour.

I ended up choosing three bars of soap: Tutti Fruiti, Limone and Pear Lavender. I used the Limone last night and OMG I was totally in heaven. I smell like a girl again!

I was sent home with this great package that just happens to be my favorite colors. If you are in the area, be sure to stop this little slice of heaven and tell Larry I said "Hi!"
