I went dumpster diving for the first time on Monday. My BFF Jill has been raving about it for sometime. She invited me to go and I jumped at the chance.
The first thing that surprised me was that we did it in the daylight. I thought that it would be something that you do at night. Well, I was wrong.
We scored on the first one we look in behind a book store, it was filled with books. Usually the covers are ripped off, these were perfectly intact. Also, the dumpster was closed, so no snow got in. We scored some cool books, my favorite was a book on Marilyn Monroe.
We scored BIG TIME behind Bed, Bath and Beyond. Jill scored a toaster oven, a small table, a shoe rack, lamp, and a 7 inch digital photo frame! I got a large ceramic heater and a chilled condiment server.
I can't wait to do this again. Next time, we are bringing a pool ladder so that we can climb up, turn around, then climb down. Also a pole with a hook on it is a must!

You. are. nuts.
And have lots of stuff to show for it.
i see so many books that i want! can you get this stuuf in any dumpster behind stores???? I have a new hobby to add to my garbage sorting finds!
You just have to catch it on days they throw stuff out and before they empty the dumpster. We just drove around the backs of stores and looked in dumpsters. Both of these stores (Half Priced Books and Bed, Bath and Beyond) were in Monroeville, right down the road for you!
